Blind Royale
Blind Royale is a free, fully blind-accessible battle royale. Fifty fighters drop onto one island, the storm closes in, and the last one standing wins. There is nothing on screen to rely on: where everybody is, what they are doing and what is about to happen to you all arrive as positional sound and speech, so the whole game is played by ear with your screen reader.
What you do
- Ride the battle bus and choose where to come down, steering while you fall.
- Loot the island for guns, ammunition, shields, bandages and grenades. Chests hum, so walk toward the hum.
- Fight fifty fighters, human and bot alike, who all do everything you can do: they jump while they shoot, throw up a wall the moment you tag them, build a ramp to take the high ground off you, and lob a grenade over a wall you are hiding behind.
- Build. Walls stop bullets, ramps take you up a level, and a pickaxe on a tree or a car gets you the materials.
- Track what you cannot hear yet: people, places and things to pick up, each on its own key, each pinging in 3d from where it is.
- Play solo, duos or squads, with your own side calling out enemies beside you.
- Walk onto the open island: one shared place with no storm and nobody ever out for good, for meeting people rather than beating them.
Playing with other people
Open a lobby and start it when the room is right, join somebody's game off the public list or by a code, talk to the server or to your own side, message one person wherever either of you is, and read any of it back afterwards. If something goes wrong or somebody spoils a game, press f8 and open a support ticket: it waits for us, we answer it in the same place, and the whole conversation is kept.
There is also a complete offline game in the same download: the whole island, the whole storm, a full field of bots, and no network of any kind.
Download
Pick the version for your operating system. After downloading, extract the archive and run the game from the folder it creates.
- Download Blind Royale for Windows (.zip) Right-click the downloaded file and choose "Extract All", then run blind_royale.exe.
- Download Blind Royale for Linux (.tar.gz) Extract with your archive manager or run: tar -xzf blind_royale.tar.gz
- Download Blind Royale for Mac (.iso) Open the downloaded image, then copy the game out to run it.
- Read the manual Every key, every sound and every screen. The same manual is in the download.
The game keeps itself up to date. It checks when it starts, and if there is a newer version it says so and offers you the choice of updating now or closing and doing it later. There is no third option: the server runs one version and a copy that is behind it cannot play, so the update is the way in rather than a suggestion.
